Great marketing starts with understanding. The more we know about a client’s business, the people in it and the customers they serve, the better we can represent them. That thinking sits behind a new initiative we’ve been trialling at Blue Bee, and it’s one we’re genuinely excited about.
We’re calling them Work Experience Days. The idea is simple. Your account manager spends a full day with you and your team, getting a proper feel for how the business runs and the personalities behind it. We shadow the team and help out where we can, asking plenty of questions along the way. After seeing how well it worked with new clients, we’re now rolling it out to our existing ones too.
A day at Propex

Senior Marketing Account Manager, Billy, ran the very first one with Propex Leisure, and it was a brilliant day. And here is account of the day.
‘’The day started with a tour of the facilities and a chance to meet everyone. From there I spent time with Dawn, working through the website orders that had come in that morning and heading to the warehouse to pick and prepare them for dispatch. We had a good chat about the online side of the business, the types of customers they get and how demand shifts through the year.

Next I joined Mitch as he carried out a motorhome habitation check, which was a great opportunity to capture some useful imagery. After lunch I watched Joe build and test an LPG gas tank from start to finish, then helped Dave pack web orders and prepare a shipment of air blown heaters bound for a distributor in the USA. The day finished with a proper sit-down with Richard to talk through the marketing opportunities we’d spotted along the way.

What struck me most was how much you pick up simply by being there. You can read every brief and study every product page, but nothing beats seeing the work happen in front of you. I came away with a far clearer picture of what Propex do, along with a long list of content ideas. Some of those have already been actioned.’’
Why it works for us and you
There’s a practical bonus too. A day on site is a great chance to gather photos and video for social media, all of it genuine and rooted in the real business rather than stock imagery.
For our clients, the value is straightforward. The insight we gain feeds directly into marketing that’s more relevant and far more likely to land with the right audience. For us, it’s a chance to build a stronger relationship and get even more out of the work we do together.
This is exactly the kind of proactive approach we believe in at Blue Bee. Every one of our account managers is now looking forward to spending more time with their clients, and we can’t wait to see where the next Work Experience Day takes us.
