What attracted you to work for Blue Bee?
After spending 7 ½ years working in the travel and tourism industry I was ready for a change and with a small amount of experience in marketing, I felt that it was something I wanted to give a try as the next step in my career path. I was already familiar with some of the work that Blue Bee did and some of the people who were working here and felt that it would be the right environment for me to take my first step into a dedicated marketing role. And I was right! I knew that it was a young and vibrant team, and a company that was on the up and has grown a lot already in 18 months of being here, which is exciting to be a part of.
What do you enjoy most about your role as a Marketing Account Manager?
I think it’s the variety when it comes to our clients. I have learnt so much about different industries, some of which I was almost completely ignorant of. This means that I am constantly learning and having to think on my feet regarding what marketing messaging and strategies work best for which clients.
I am also enjoying the creative elements of the role, something that has been limited in my previous jobs. Creating social media posts, writing content, constructing marketing emails are all fun and interesting things about my day-to-day role.
There are many aspects to digital marketing. Which ones do you feel are the most beneficial to businesses and which do you enjoy the most?
Rather than picking one or two aspects of digital marketing, I think the key to success is getting the balance right and knowing your audience. It’s important not to put too much stock in one thing, and neglect another. It’s also no use having a beautiful social media feed, regularly updated content, and a well-oiled PPC campaign if it doesn’t speak to your audience. Making sure your tone of voice is right, and you provide the information your audience is looking for in an engaging and succinct manner, is the best way to make your marketing budget stretch the furthest.
What challenges and trends do you foresee to the world of digital marketing soon?
Everyone is talking about AI, and probably rightly so. The speed that it has advanced is impressive, even since I started at Blue Bee 18 months ago. However, I don’t think it’s something to be too scared of but embraced and used as a useful tool.
Despite AI’s rapid development, it does still lack a lot the qualities that a real marketing account managers can bring. First and foremost, a professional personal relationship. You can’t have a real-life discussion with AI and it can’t visit your company premises, to get a real feel for the people and processes of your business.
What sets Blue Bee apart from the competition when you are looking for a digital marketing agency?
I think it must be the qualities that our whole team can bring. There aren’t too many of us, but together we have all basis covered. You will have a dedicated Marketing Account Manager, like me, but all our account managers are more than capable and experienced to step in if need be. We also have some truly artistic designers whose creativity never ceases to amaze me, an expert team of developers that make sure your website is running smoothly, plus a friendly, dedicated and approachable sales and project management team always on hand to answer any question and guide you through the process.
